Periodontal diseases are generally caused by bacterial infection in the gum and include Gingivitis and Periodontitis.

    Swollen, red and bleeding gums are the characteristic features of Gingivitis. It can be easily treated in a dental clinic and by adopting preventive measures at home. Periodontitis is characterized by plaque formation and is the advanced stage of Gingivitis. These gum diseases can be prevented if detected early.

    Protections Necessary for Healthy Gums

    Best way to keep check on periodontal diseases is by daily brushing your teeth two times a day. Flossing and mouth rinsing are also good practices to keep your mouth free from bacteria. They cleanse the mouth and keep it free from bacteria and other microbial growth. It is also necessary that you see what you are eating, when you are eating more acidic or sugar laced food, you need to brush your teeth more regularly. Also, regular use of mouthwash is necessary with brushing; mouthwash keeps a check on germ build up. And lastly you need to visit your dentist regularly.
